This dissertation expounds upon Piano album: short piano pieces, 1962-1984, [Dick Higgins'] most ambitious musical publication, with particular reference to interpretation and performance possibilities via analysis of a selection of the works within: Long arch, Touch #1, Litany piano pieces, Sophokles I and Sophokles II. The Album is a show of artistic inclusiveness: It can be played as music read as a book, or viewed as an artwork, thus displaying Higgins' idea of intermedia, an enduring word of his invention.
